Unity has been blessed with members who believe and support our vision.

For over 50 years, from 1973, with our first building, until our existing building, your generosity and support has allowed us to own our buildings free and clear.

Despite our community’s many strengths, we face challenges in health, wellness, and social cohesion. Limited access to affordable fitness resources and a lack of communal spaces hinders our community’s potential. This gap has contributed to rising health issues and has weakened the fabric of our neighborhood cohesion.

Picture this: while redevelopment and investments breathe new life into areas just blocks away, such as the Deer District, our community struggles with a sense of undervaluation. What message does this send to the residents who call this neighborhood home? Are their children not worthy of investment? What about the seniors who have been homeowners for decades, yearning for secure and welcoming spaces to connect with their neighbors, not far from the comfort of their homes?

Unity Gospel House of Prayer, a steadfast pillar in this community for five decades, has always been at the forefront of championing, leading, and supporting various resources to uplift its residents. The role of the church has been a lifeline within the African American community, and Unity Gospel House of Prayer is no exception.

Today, we stand on the precipice of an extraordinary opportunity—the Unity Fitness and Wellness Center and Unity Event and Resource Center. Beyond bricks and mortar, these centers embody legacy and the fulfillment of a vision our founders planted. They hold profound significance for our congregation, including those who have stood by us for all 50 years. They bear witness to the vision passed down through generations—a vision to own the block where our church stands and to offer invaluable community resources. In 2012, that dream took form with the opening of OGHBYRG, a landmark now representing the future Unity Event & Resource Center, proudly owned by the community.

These centers are estimated to cost $16 million. We are looking for at least 800 donors to pledge $1,000 annually over the course of 10 years.

We’re reaching out to you, our cherished members and supporters, and requesting your assistance in tracking the building fund through the pledge card. Our goal is to have at least 500-800 members commit to donating $1,000 every year for the next 10 years. This setup mirrors what we’ve had in the past, but now we’re using the Amplify platform for added convenience.

How to Complete the Form

  1. Add your total pledge amount (this assumes an amount over a 10-year period).
  2. Choose the date you would like to begin your pledge.
  3. Select the frequency (weekly, monthly, annually, or as able).
    • Scroll and notice that the amount deducted, based upon the frequency you select will be calculated for you.
    • Or choose as able, which allows you to pay as little or as much as you like, without equal payments being calculated for you.
  4. Provide your billing information.
  5. Choose to pay by debit, credit, Google pay, or ACH.
  6. Emails will be sent to you when payments are deducted. The email will also allow you to review your giving history as well.
