Youth and Mass Choirs
The youth choir is comprised of the youth members of Unity Gospel House of Prayer, ranging in age from 3 – 17 years of age. The Youth Choir ministers in song at various church events and primarily Sunday evening service.
Mass Choir combines the youth and adult choirs. The Mass choir ministers in song Sunday morning and Tuesday evening services, and at various requested events.
Both choir rehearsals are conducted on Saturdays unless otherwise noted.
Praise Dance Team (adult, young ladies and young men)
Praise dance is using your body and movements as a form of praise and expression of thanks and gratitude to the Lord. Praise dancing is also a form of worship. We are a right now Praise Dance Ministry, with a right now Praise, because we serve a right now God! Age ranges include: Youth Boys: Ages 4-17, Youth Girls Ages 4-17, Adults: 18 & older
Miming is a different form of praise dance. It gives more expression and gesture, bringing an intangible concept to life. The age ranges are the same as the Praise Dance Team.
The Praise Team’s purpose is to minister through music and song, while leading the congregation into a true praise and worship experience, before the primary service begins.
The A.V. team provides visual and audio recordings of the services. Services are recorded by Amazing Moments, LLC. All services are streamed LIVE via ustream (www.ustream.tv
). The streaming begins 15 minutes after the hour (9:15 am Sunday mornings and 7:15 pm Thursday evenings).
Sunday morning and Thursday evening services are also recorded and reviewable again at any time via vimeo (www.vimeo.com)
Every first Friday, ministers of our congregation visit with The Guest House of Milwaukee (providing shelter, housing, education and services to Milwaukee’s homeless who seek to transform their lives with dignity and purpose.), delivering a word of encouragement and hope to those in need.
Specific women who are ministers of Unity Gospel House of Prayer, who perform good deeds and support to other women who are members and may have entered a storm in their life and are in need.
Hands that Care
Taking one day out of the week to spend a little time with members that are Senior (or elderly), or in nursing homes. The purpose of “Hands that Care” is not to take the place of the family, but simply to bring a familiar face from our members’ church home. It’s one hour, with a home cooked meal (lunch or dinner) in hand, the word of God in our hearts and a smile on our faces! Our mission is to serve our elderly through the Spirit of the Lord!
This is an annual event sponsored by Unity and other local church businesses, to provide 100 families a turkey and the accompanying sides for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Reaching out to family members of the congregation who may have loved ones incarcerated, continuously spreading the Word of God through post cards and letters.
Spreading the Word of God by foot, compelling people to submit their lives unto the Lord and to become an attendant of a congregation; while Unity may not be their congregation of choice, expressing the importance of assembling in the Spirit of truth is very important to our lives, wherever they decide to go. The point is to go!
This is an annual community event to provide donated clothing and backpacks to all in need, typically occurring the first weekend of August.
In association with breast cancer awareness, and in partnership with Columbia/St. Mary’s Hospital Unity hosts the pink mammogram bus for women to obtain free screenings.
Health and Wellness
In partnership with Columbia/St. Mary’s community health and wellness, Unity hosts events to keep our community aware and healthy; this includes free blood pressure/diabetes screenings, healthy heart, natural family planning and other events.
Men’s Power Workout in the Word
This is a 50 minute study in the word, led by the Pastor or the Elder, for men only. It is typically held semi-monthly.
This is an annual event for men (non-members welcome as well) to refocus and reset. The retreat is typically held at the Lake Geneva Grand Resort, Lake Geneva, WI.
This annual event for men (non-members welcome as well) is for those who like to be one with nature, a reel, rod and the Word of God in hand. The event is typically held at Castle Rock Hideaway, Mauston, WI.
Ole Skool vs. New Skool Basketball Game
This is an annual event occurring the 1st Friday of December where younger men (ages 13-29) compete with young men (ages 30 and up) in a friendly game of basketball. The cheerleaders of the same age group compete as well to see who still has it. The audience determines the winner of the cheer-off. The scoreboard determines the winner of the basketball game.
Ladies Spiritual Guidance Class
This class is open for all women and their daughters of all ages. It is held the 2nd Wednesday of every month.
Talk Time with Lady Kimberly Lock
This class is open for all women of all ages. It is an opportunity for the congregation to talk about issues women face, with the Pastor’s wife – Kimberly Lock. The class meets at the church the 3rd Monday of every other month. The months in between are fun outings to become more acquainted with the women of the congregation.
This is an annual event where the women (non-members welcome as well) rejuvenate and empower themselves at the Kalahari Resort, Wisconsin Dells.
B.A. R. (Brave and Righteous) boys ages 14-18
B. A. R. (Blooming above rubies) girls ages 14-18
This is a class to encourage our young women of the future to make choices to align with the word of God, building upon the morals and beliefs instilled by their parents. The class occurs September-May annually, on Thursday evenings.
Young Men’s Development (ages 16-25)
This weekly class occurs on Thursday evenings, to provide support to young men who feel unsupported, encouraging them that God’s way is “cool” and to be leaders and followers of those things that are good.
Gospel Skate Outings
This is a semi-annual event for all to enjoy. Gospel skate outings typically occur in September (back-to-school) and April (Spring Break Jam)
This is an annual event for boys ages 10-18 to ensure they are being respectful to parents and abiding by the rules, all while enjoying the company of the young men they fellowship with in the congregation. Camp grounds are located near Johnson Creek, WI.
This is an annual event for girls ages 10-18 to ensure they are being respectful to parents and abiding by the rules, all while enjoying the company of the young ladies they fellowship with in the congregation. Camp grounds are located near Johnson Creek, WI.
Harvest Fest is an annual event we provide for our Unity children. By definition harvest fest is known as a time for giving thanks for what you have and is associated with Thanksgiving. What Unity does is provide a safe environment for children to dress up in costumes (if desired) and enjoy the children they are accustom to seeing and fellowshipping with in church services. Giving thanks to God for bringing us together in the spirit of Unity. Ages are potty trained to 10 years of age.
